Not entirely sure what to think! Wait Staff (the owners) were very friendly and helpful, but then they disappeared into oblivion and oblivion felt like forever. When owner one showed back up a party of six came in and they were seated and their order was taken immediately, meaning our order now lingered behind the party of six. We then had the pleasure of 2nd wait staff to tell us about our woes. Real not what we wanted to hear, a mere apology would suffice. As its not my fault your service is so poor, but suddenly it's my fault. When asked about the shorthanded staffing, the owner said some were on break. That's acceptable as it was 2:15 in the afternoon. The menu doesn't leap out at you as its basic American-Mexican food, also understandable as for the demographics of lower Alabama; however, what is surprising is on fish dish. Kind of ashame since the true Mexican food is excellent. And, I have no doubt that they have a great understand of Mexico's great flavors. Well, finally it camel and just my luck, it was cold, way cold. My G/F's plate and food was hot. Both plates looked spectacular but mine COLD! Knowing there would be know one to ask how it is I took my plate to our less then stellar waitress and asked to stick it in the microwave, but if looks could kill, I'd be dead. That's when I simply gave up. She no longer wanted to deal with me and I her, as her shirt coulda easily read "Does Not Work Well With Others". The first wait staff member came by with my dish. Simply stating "Hot dish do I want it? " as I told him the service from her was poor and food cold, he placed the dish on the counter and placed a napkin on it. Yeah I guess we were both done! In retrospect, there were people there that were complementing the food saying how excellent it was. I have no doubt that the food is excellent. The problem with this restaurant was her inability to handle customer that was having a problem. I did not get loud and I was always polite, the first waiter was very polite individual. However she seem to have the problem.

I was hesitant to go here because of the negative reviews but was at The Warf and craving Mexican food and queso! I definitely can see why most of the reviews say the staff is rude....because indeed they are! It's almost like they seemed annoyed that I spoke English. If looks could kill, we would of died because our waitress gave us a few awful looks while ordering. I have to say that the queso was delicious and so were my enchiladas. So yummy food but rude staff.

Tuesday at noon, only one waitress for the entire restaurant. Tried to order their advertised 2 For 1 draft beer special but was told the special was not today. I guess Tuesday is not a day of the week?? Chips and salsa were standard canned junk. Taste like crushed tomatoes with a hint of ketchup. I ordered tacos de carne asada. They brought out three taco shells filled with tough meat and some pico and pepper sauce mixed in the same container. Disgusting!!!!! They have only been open a few months but it is one month too long. Save your money an go somewhere else. Don't believe the five star reviews, they were written by the owners and employees.

To many onions in their chimchanga and quesdilla, no chicken and very small portions.

Horrible service! The restaurant must have been under staffed, at least I'm assuming so, because surely they weren't purposely sitting people and then never coming back. We waited 30 minutes at our table, never even had a drink order taken, got fed up and left.

What the hell! The food was so so, service was slow. That alone was not the issue. Our waiter/server was a total creep!!! He tapped our daughter on the shoulder 3 times in an very strange manor. Then when our drink came out he grabbed our other daughters hand and shook his finger no. My wife said "Don't touch her!" This guy super weird. The food about what you expect for Alabama Mexican food. We won't head back here again!

Wonderful food, nothing is greasy as it is in most Mexican restaurants. The employees are super friendly and just a wonderful environment. Best Mexican restaurant in the area!

I stayed at the Wharf for a week. Had an itch for a Margarita. I was not disappointed. They were very tasty. Sat at the bar twice and throughly enjoyed our time. The bartender was enjoyable to talk with, refilled drinks when necessary and generally kept tabs on us. The food was good, but the general atmosphere was what brought me back for round two. It is a family affair, not a chain and that makes all the difference. I enjoyed it and will come back when I return to the Wharf.

Don't go here. The service is the absolute worst I have ever experienced. I just gave this place a 2nd chance and walked out for the 2nd time . First I asked what the margarita/lime mix was and the waiter said if he told me, he would have to kill me...well not the first time someone has threatened to kill me so no big deal. Second allll I wanted was a shot of margarita mix and a shot of tequila over ice and the waitress slammed her book down and called another waiter over because I was being "difficult". I did not know that was suchs a hard thing to to do but here I guess it is. There are a lot of places to eat and drink at the Wharf but save yourself and find another place.

Never in my life have I felt more unwelcome in a restaurant. We sat down after we said we wanted a table for 5 people... after we got a nice eye roll from the older woman working there. The waiter seemed visibly frustrated when we said that we would be having separate checks. He flipped through the pages of his order pad like a damn diva that just found out she isn't having a quinceñera. We planned to drink so we were planning on having quite a few margaritas and tipping very well. After waiting for about 5 to 10 minutes for the first round of drinks, they came and they were decent.... then they sat on the table empty for a good 15 minutes. The waiter removed the glasses quickly without offering more drinks. I ordered some queso, which I guess the waiter just decided I didn't need... whatever. The only reason this place gets 2 stars instead of 1 is because the food tasted alright for a touristy Mexican joint. Because of how miserable all the workers looked, I really think this place should be investigated to make sure they are working here by their own free will.... could've fooled me!

Poor attitude equals poor customer service. Didn't even try the food because we arrived at 7:40 pm with a party of 10. Yes, we know this is a large group that requires a little planning for the wait staff. However, most restaurants accommodate large parties with ease and will at least offer two tables close to each other. The hostess told us they only had booths (while rolling her eyes / arms in the air), plus she said she couldn't help us and "what do you want me to do"? Well...I expect courtesy and to be treated as a paying customer which I was but after this I'll never be.

Average Mexican food, good prices on lunch menu. Room for improvement.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
